Later in life he got hooked on playing golf and was an avid golfer in various golf leagues. You could always find him on the golf course. Dan loved watching Packers and Badgers games along with NASCAR and Indy races.

Dan was a skilled craftsman, working with aluminum, wood and fiberglass. He exhibited those skills while working at Chief Auto Parts. He was active in the Ho Chunk Nation activities, along with golfing in the HAGA golf tournaments. But what he enjoyed most in life was his dearly loved daughter, Amy, and his grandchildren, Miles and Rylee.
