Obituary
MCFARLAND - Daniel Ralph “Dan” Whitehorse, age 76, of McFarland, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025. He was born on May 19, 1949, in Madison, Wis., the son of Walter and Marie (Stoffel) Whitehorse. Growing up in the Nazarene church, he enjoyed Sunday School and Bible studies. He was an avid reader of the Scriptures and was always checking out crime story books from the library.
Dan grew up loving sports, starting with racing go-karts with his three brothers and the Whitehorse family cousins. He enjoyed trap shooting, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed playing city league football and fast pitch softball. His softball team, Chief Auto Parts, won state championships throughout the years. Later in life he got hooked on playing golf and was an avid golfer in various golf leagues. You could always find him on the golf course. Dan loved watching Packers and Badgers games along with NASCAR and Indy races.
Dan was a skilled craftsman, working with aluminum, wood and fiberglass. He exhibited those skills while working at Chief Auto Parts. He was active in the Ho Chunk Nation activities, along with golfing in the HAGA golf tournaments. But what he enjoyed most in life was his dearly loved daughter, Amy, and his grandchildren, Miles and Rylee.
Daniel is survived by his father, Walter Whitehorse; three brothers, Dennis (Kathy Purcell) Whitehorse, Ken (Sue) Whitehorse, and Jim (Marilee) Whitehorse; sister, Ruth Ann Whitehorse-Burns; daughter, Amy (Brodie Seaton) Whitehorse-Seaton; grandchildren, Miles Noreus and Rylee Seaton; former wife, Cheri Kelly; and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Whitehorse; brother-in-law, Tom Burns; grandfather, Ralph Whitehorse; and grandmother, Annie Greencrow Whitehorse.
A Christian burial service will be held at CROSSPOINT CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 5011 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday September 26, 2025, with Lance Long presiding, followed by a luncheon at the church where visitation will take place. A private family burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
