Obituary

Middleton - Lucille Margaret Acker, age 98, of Middleton, passed away at her home in Middleton on Thursday, June 9, 2022. She was born at home in Waunakee, Wis., the daughter of Constant and Margaret Klein and was the oldest of their five children.


Lucille married Paul Acker on Sept. 12, 1945. They settled on Bristol Street in Middleton in 1947, living there for over 60 years. Together they raised five children, Virginia, Carol, David, Jane and Mark. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church from the time she got married until the time of her death.


Lucille had many interests, including playing bridge, which she did for many years. She did sewing and alterations, and loved handiwork such as crocheting, cross stitching and knitting. Her favorite thing was to have family around her, and she always made holidays special, especially Christmas. She also enjoyed traveling, and made many trips to Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. In addition, she was an avid reader, a trait she passed on to her children. In the two years prior to her death, she arranged flowers at the dining tables at Heritage Middleton every Tuesday, which proved to be one of her favorite activities.


Lucille is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Deanna Denny) Acker, Carol Mae (Floyd) Timm and Jane (Bill) Hamner; her sons, David (Jane) Acker and Mark (Jodi) Acker; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Paul; and her siblings, Laura Blaska, Virginia Buhler, Margaret Meier and Anthony “Tony” Klein.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Burial at a later date will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church, Middleton.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Luceille /Grandma Ackerman was a kind loving lady. No matter what the circumstances she always found good in everyone and nearly everoad well. “Grandma Ackerman carried Jesus Christ with her everyday of her life. What a great card player and fancier of flowers, especially orchids. In loving memory for all she was and is with Our Lord now in heaven without loving anymore pain. Thank GOD for women like her to create memories forever.

I was honored to be Lucille and Paul’s physician for many years. And they both were both wonderful people. If I ever had a bad day, they perked me up with their smile, kindness, and humor. In addition, I remember very well their pride and love for their family, particularly for their children and all their extended family members. Family was important certainly, but so was their faith.
