In 1992, she was recognized as "Distinguished Teacher of the Year" in Office Technology at MATC. She retired from MATC in 1995. Mary Jo was involved in the shawl ministry for St. Dennis Catholic Church. She loved nature and was an avid bird watcher. Dear Julie and Paul and your families Mary Jo was a wonderful neighbor and friend in the late ‘60’s and ‘70’s when we lived on Academy Dr. She was always positive, upbeat, and had a wonderful smile. You chose a great picture which represents your Mom’s fantastic smile. Mary Jo and I shared lots of fun times, one of which was playing bridge together. In November, 2015 Mary Jo, Nancy Miller, Jeannine Bultman , and I (“The Old Bridge Hens” ) got together for lunch to reminisce about happy times together. My deepest sympathy to you, Julie and Paul, and your families. I hope your happy memories will help ease the pain of losing your Mom. Love, Ginny Christensen Martinson

I was so sorry to hear of Mary Jo's passing. Bill and Mary Jo were good friends and we had good times in Madison playing bridge and at neighborhood dances. I have very good memories of both of them. I had dinner with Mary Jo in March while she was in Sun City West, AZ. We had a very nice visit talking about "old" times. My Sincere Sympathy Glenn Grumann
