RICE LAKE/COTTAGE GROVE/DEERFIELD-Axel Dahlberg, age 78, passed away on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015, at his home surrounded by family from cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). He was born on March 28, 1937, in Poskin, Wis., the son of Axel and Fern (Rice) Dahlberg. Axel worked in sales much of his life, most recently owner of Weather Guard Improvements, Inc. He had a lifelong passion for motorsports, racing stock cars, midgets, motorcycles and dragsters. Axel was inducted into the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame in 2013. He also loved to travel. Axel is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon; children, Shawn (Ken) Kippley of Belleville, Shannon (fiance', Steve Allbaugh) Ovadal of Blanchardville and Axel (Abby) Dahlberg of Middleton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kathy Dahlberg of Rice Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Fern Dahlberg; two brothers; two sisters; mother-in-law; and father-in-law. Per Axel's request, there will be no memorial service. He will be missed by his family, many friends and beloved pets, Charlie and Rascal. He will be remembered daily in our thoughts and prayers. Axel & Sharon were great friends. We had a great time last winter in Arizona. We visited the Grand Canyon, the petrified forest and many other wonderful sights. Axel & Sharon and George and I played a lot of the card game Clean Hands and Dirty Feet. Axel was a great coffee buddy to George. He had many stories to tell. We will have many fond memories of him. We will miss him greatly.

Sharon, Axel will be missed by many people, including Marg and I. My friendship with Axel goes so many years back that I don't remember how we met. We had many trips to the Chicago Car Show and drag races. I remember when he quit driving the dragster, turning the steering wheel over to A.J. He sold us the replacement windows for our house and he bought his house from me. But the best was our time at the coffee shop. We solved world problems many times over.

To my family ---just want you to know that dad was so lucky to have us as part of his life. Sharon you guys were two peas in a pod and always managed to keep dad "on track" He was always there for us. He will be so missed but we have so many memories and good times to remember. The months ahead will be hard but faith , family and friends will keep us strong. He will be in our thoughts and prayers daily. Love to all those who were blessed to be a part of his life and ours.
