MIDDLETON-Benjamin D. Johnson, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 16, 2013, due to an undiagnosed cardiac condition. He was born on November 27, 1976, in Racine, the son of Benjamin and Dale (Zernov) Johnson. Ben married Rachael Bohlen on December 28, 2002, in Madison. He earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2003 from the UW-Madison and was currently employed with Select Specialty Hospital. He enjoyed the academic aspects of being a pharmacist, including teaching students and writing articles for publication. He was an accomplished volleyball player who loved to spend time with his three daughters, to fish, and to hunt with his dog, Ruthie. He faithfully served the Lord by spreading His Word through camp counseling, church activities, and Athletes in Action. He will be remembered as a generous, kind, active, passionate, and energetic father. In addition to his wife and three children, Addie Grace, Taylor Faith, and Lola Marie; he is survived by his parents, Ben (Dale) Johnson, a sister, Kristen (Paul) Vietzen; two brothers, Matthew Johnson, and Nathan (Sara) Johnson; his in-laws, Forrest (Becky) Bohlen and a sister-in-law, Sarah (Dalon) Parker, and 5 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at HIGH POINT CHURCH, 7702 Old Sauk Road, Madison, at 11:30 AM on Friday, December 27, 2013. Burial will be held in Middleton Junction Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. For online condolences, please visit www.gundersonfh.com. Ben is our son's "big brother" and had a huge influence on his growing into the person who with us, is sad with this news. We will miss him - but one day know we will all be together again.

Ben, Dale and family. I was so sorry to hear of Ben's passing. I learned of it from my daughter Jennifer DuRocher who worked with Ben at Select Hospital. She often spoke of the pharmacist from Racine that she became friends with after she started working there, but I did not know this was your son until she sent me the obituary. Dear Johnson Family, The last time I saw Ben was at our cabin in Cataract, WI, where he came for deer hunting last year. He had been a best friend to my son John and in the past couple years he had befriended our other son Sam and opened up a job for him in the pharmacy at Select Hospital. Sam will miss him so because he worked with him daily and loved him. John is 8 years younger than Ben and Ben had mentored him in High School, so we often talked of Ben Johnson in our home. He was like the golden boy to us...so smart, handsome, athletic, outstanding in his profession, and a solid Christian....and last but not least, he knew how to get a bargain! If we had to buy anything fairly big around our house, I'd say to John, "Ask Ben what he thinks." Then when John grew up and went into the Air Force, Sam took John's place and I'd be asking Sam to ask Ben what he thinks. We loved to hear stories about Ben's little girls for John and Sam thought they were so adorable and precocious. Ben had a big influence in the lives of our two sons. We loved him because our boys loved him, and he was such a good and generous friend to them. I can't tell you how sad we were to hear of his passing. So so many people are praying for your family. Dear Johnson Family - I am so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Ben. It has been many, many years since we'd last seen each other, but had reconnected thru Facebook. I remember Ben so well from the years growing up in Aldebron neighborhood - bikes rides, ghost in the graveyard, the annual BBQ at the pond - as well as in high school. He was always one of the "nice" neighborhood boys who wasn't mean and rough! I pray for peace and God's love for your family, his wife and his girls
