I have a few favorite memories of Marcy. I remember as a little girl John And Marcy returning from a trip to Italy and bringing me back a mosaic pin in the shape of a violin. I still have the pin today. I also remember many sleepovers at her home in Belgium before she had kids. We would always play a competitive game of Monopoly and eat popcorn. In 1969 I remember Marcy waking us to see the first man landing on the moon; I am forever grateful. She was always encouraging her nieces and nephews to visit and making sure to visit us too. When Sam was born in 1991 she came to visit and help me with the baby. I remember her making many frozen meals that I could easily throw in the oven. Marcy was always trying new recipes. .One time when we came for dinner in Chippewa Falls, Marcy made a flourless chocolate torte and forgot to add the sugar. We knew it was bad when we looked down the table and saw Jake, about 2years old at the time, scraping it off his tongue. Marcy jumped up and swept the dessert off the table. We laughed so hard and still chuckle about that memory today! The most recent new food recipe that I got the chance to sample visiting in May was corn chowder soup and it was delicious! She also had a knack of making birthdays and anniversaries special. I remember her including us in her 40 year wedding anniversary celebration to Wisconsin Dells. She was very generous and liked to bring the family together for these special occasions. Marcy was very well read, a good communicator, opinionated and interesting. I will miss our lively conversations. She was a fantastic aunt with a beautiful heart and a very cute name. I will forever remember with love, my aunt Marcy Linderđź’•

I remember when we were young and would go by grandma Linder and bake all Saturday morning. Aunt Marcy and all the sister in laws and all of us cousins made the best homemade donut rings during these times. I also loved how Aunt Marcy would invite all of us no matter what to celebrate birthdays every summer. No matter what she always remembered and sent out birthday and anniversary cards. I often thought did she fill them out every year and have them ready to go. She never would miss a beat when it came to that. When they lived on the lake in Random Lake we spent many days back and forth at our houses. Many memories of playing games and especially monopoly that we would play for days when we stayed by her and uncle John. It would be a marathon game. She will be sadly missed by all of us. She was the circle to our families and always would call and check in on all of us. Love you always... Jane Thome

Marcy and I met in the summer of 1961 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. We worked as aides in the rehab department prior to our senior year at our respective schools, Marquette and UW-Madison.. The next spring Marcy invited me to bunk in the big old house she shared with a number of other Marquette students.as I began an internship at Curative Workshop in Milwaukee. After graduation Marcy, Karen and I continued our friendship as Physical Therapists at the VA and as roommates on 34th and Wells in another big old house. For the next year we worked hard, partied a bit (we remember the green lights at the work party in our apt. living room and getting stuck in the mud at another work party at a co-worker’s cottage), shot pool and danced at Manthy’s on 35th Street. I think the names of John and Jim were frequently mentioned by Marcy and me. I married in 1963 with a wonderful send off from my roommates, Marcy followed the next spring. Our families grew and our activities were more family- centered: side by side cottages in the North woods with fond memories of the Jolly Good Seven, a trip to the Smoky Mountains, long weekends at the Linder home in Random Lake and visits to us when we lived in Springfield IL, gatherings at one another’s special family events. Marcy and John are Jeff’s godparents. Wendy and Laurie are best friends. Christmas time brought a houseful of kids and adults as we gathered at one another’s homes often with Karen and her family as well. In time as our children grew up our gatherings became just the four of us sharing a meal at each other’s homes (Marcy was a great cook and pie maker) and enjoying a game of cards or dominoes. Through it all our friendship has remained strong and I will miss her deeply. I’m grateful for having a friend like Marcy—so many shared memories, good conversations, fun times. Who knew a summer job could yield all of that.
