My memory of Barbara is of a kind and calm spirit, who was always compassionate and generous. She was most supportive of my writing project, and wrote a wonderful blurb for the final book. Barbara's own books demonstrated her depth of understanding of the human spirit. Her book, "The Tale of Zen Master Bho Li" is bound to remain a classic! I recall her appreciation of Ryokan's poem, and believe it reflects her own Buddhist practice: "Like the little stream making its way through the mossy crevices. I, too, quietly turn clear and transparent." Congratulations on a life well lived! Gassho!

Visits with Barbara after I had moved to Minneapolis were particularly special because they were no longer easy to make happen. Once when I was visiting, she shared with me some extraordinarily beautiful collages she had been making. This is one has been especially inspiring to me for a long time. It speaks of hope and courage and joy in the process of living. It is one of many "wonderments" we shared and which fill me with love and fond memories and gratitude. Thank you, Barbara

I am so appreciative that you made Barbara's memorial service available through live stream. I am grateful that I was able to attend. It was good to see you and feel myself being among you. I hold you softly in my heart, and of course, Barbara.
