Obituary
STOUGHTON - Robert Paul Gogolewski, age 85, of Stoughton, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on July 31, 1940, in Oshkosh, the son of Stanley and Veronica (Sharapata) Gogolewski. Bob was united in marriage to Mary McDonell on July 8, 1961, in Oshkosh.
Robert served in the National Guard, where his unit, the 32nd Division, was activated twice during the Berlin Crisis and the Vietnam War. Later he was employed in the building industry, working as a territory manager until his retirement in 2011.
Bob’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, especially attending his grandchildren’s activities and staying connected through their many visits and phone calls. His kindness and generosity also extended to the 16 foster newborns he welcomed into his home, offering them love, guidance, and stability.
A man of deep faith, Bob loved attending Mass and faithfully prayed the Rosary each day. In his earlier years, he was an active member of St. Ann’s, serving as an usher and volunteering for many parish activities. He also took great pride in caring for his yard, earning the affectionate nickname “Backyard Bob,” or “BYB,” among family and friends. He also enjoyed reading, playing cribbage, fishing, polka music, and cheering on the Brewers, Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; children, Lynn (Bill) Lenling, James (Joni) Gogolewski, Kate (Chris) Larsh and Mike Gogolewski; grandchildren, Mia Lenling-Aguilar, (Eduardo) Aguilar, Ana Lenling-Berthelon (Paul) Berthelon and Alli Lenling; Maddie Gogolewski, Ellie Gogolewski and Jack Gogolewski; Carly Gogolewski and Corrine Gogolewski; and Collin (Tori) Larsh, Chloe (Christian) Larsh and Cuinn Larsh. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joyce DeJong.
