Obituary
MADISON - Darin Jay Ruck passed away on March 13, 2026.
Born on May 3, 1968, to Bonnie and John, Darin grew up with a strong sense of duty, faith, and dedication that shaped the course of his life. He attended Abundant Life Christian School and later earned a Bachelor of Science from Edgewood College.
Darin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, working as an Aircraft Electrician while stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He later continued his service in the Wisconsin Air National Guard, where his leadership, skill, and commitment earned him the rank of Technical Sergeant (E6). During his military career, Darin received both the Army Achievement Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal, recognizing his professionalism and the quality of the airmen he helped lead and mentor.
Following his military service, Darin spent the majority of his civilian career working in procurement and sourcing management, applying the same discipline, organization, and problem-solving skills that defined his time in uniform.
Darin had a wide range of passions that reflected his energetic and hands-on spirit. A lifelong music lover, he played bass and drums and performed in many bands over the years. He was also faithfully involved in his church’s worship team for more than 30 years. He enjoyed auto mechanics, taking pride in working on vehicles and making anything loud and fast. Around the home, Darin was the ultimate handyman-there was rarely anything he couldn’t fix or figure out how to repair.
He was an avid reader, especially devoted to studying the Bible and Christian apologetics. He was a recreational shooter and gun enthusiast, including clays and target practice, and was known among family and friends as a dedicated grill master.
Those who knew Darin will remember his great sense of humor, infectious laugh, and his drive for order, precision, and excellence in everything he did. He was a passionate man, a fearless protector of those he loved, and someone who brought both energy and strength into the lives of those around him.
Darin is survived by his two sons, David and Derek, their loving spouses, Mari and Ashely; his cherished grandchildren, Dawson and Mariannae; his father, John; brother, David (Rocio); sister, Kelly; along with his beloved 13 nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family that will not be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held at CITY CHURCH, 4909 Buckeye Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
