Vicki M Ballweg

COOKSVILLE / STOUGHTON - Vicki Marie Ballweg, age 53, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Vicki grew up in Cedarburg, Wis., before attending UW-Eau Claire, where she earned an English degree in 1993. She married the love of her life, Mark, on September 29, 2001. They built a beautiful life together over nearly 24 years of marriage, during which they welcomed their cherished daughter, Emma.

Professionally, Vicki had many talents and varied interests. Following an accomplished 26-year career at the American Cancer Society, Vicki took a break from work to prioritize time with her family. When she was ready to return to work, she sought part-time jobs that brought her joy and satisfaction - “paid hobbies” as she called them. As a Stylist at Evereve, she enjoyed empowering women through fashion. She then went on to use her organizational skills as the office administrator at Christ Lutheran Church, a position she loved during her short time there.

Outside of work, she was a member of the Junior League of Madison, serving as president from 2010-2011. When Emma joined the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers, Vicki embraced being a parent volunteer. As one of her many contributions, she organized a dancer tour to the San Francisco area, helping to create lasting and treasured memories for all involved. Some of her other interests included reading, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Above all, the role that she enjoyed, valued, and excelled at the most, was being a mom. Throughout her professional career, Vicki would frequently work from home, work part-time, or take summers off entirely to maximize the time she spent with Emma. For Vicki, creating a family was the most fulfilling thing she ever did.  

While a 10-month battle with cancer ended Vicki’s life, it did not defeat her. Cancer could not break Vicki’s spirit, and she faced her battle with courage, grace, and strength throughout. Cancer is tough, but Vicki was tougher.

Vicki is survived by her devoted husband, Mark; beloved daughter, Emma; parents, Ray and Linda Spatt; and sister, Lisa (Dan) Aiman. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Maggie Ballweg; siblings-in-law, Maria (Mike) Dunse, John (Aletha) Ballweg, Fred (Mary) Ballweg, Lucy Ballweg and Denise (Dennis) Tarnowski; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sidney and Marion Nelson and John and Wilma Spatt; her father-in-law, Victor Ballweg; her maternal aunt, Kathy Good; and paternal uncle, Robert Spatt.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at UW Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace HospiceCare for the compassionate care that they provided to Vicki and to the family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers who have provided so much love, support, and care throughout this journey.

A memorial service will be held at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 County Highway B, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025. A visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given in Vicki’s memory to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), Christ Lutheran Church, or the Dane County Humane Society.

To our beloved Vicki, while it hurts us tremendously to see you take this path, we are comforted in knowing that your path and ours continue to run alongside each other until one day they will meet again. We love you!
