I walked into RLHS in the Fall of 1968, and Orv was already a beloved teacher and coach. For the next 57 years he was my Coach, my Mentor, and my dear friend. You could always count on Orv’s wry grin and good humor, his sound guidance, along with great coaching on executing the hard dribble and quick step for a basket in the post! The Roman philosopher Seneca said it best: “The comfort of having a friend may be taken away, but not that of having had one.” We will miss having Orv here as our friend, but all the great memories will stay with us. So many wonderful memories! His was the first wedding I was allowed to attend. I was only four! I babysat his boys, they were more like my little brothers! He was my Algebra teacher, first time I ever understood Math! He went fishing with my dad, and my sons. Farewell sweet cousin!

One of the most knowledgeable Winchester collectors that I’ve ever personally spent time with! He truly touched many people’s lives! A total man of class and character!He certainly will be missed but fondly remembered! Dennis and Sharon Olson and family
