I have many fond memories of Jack during our 4 years together at Brookwood. Jack was an extraordinary athlete and schoolmate. RIP ! John Byers

Our families did a lot together before and after having kids. Mom took us to Alaska, Hawaii, and Hong Kong. I remember the guys having suits made in Hong Kong, (White!) and Jack getting over 20 ties for a dollar apiece. During summers, we got the cousins together at Balsam Lake, then Door County and finally Lake Geneva. But vivid in all our of minds were our Christmas’s together in Mom and Dad’s Norwalk living room and the wonderland of presents. Jack got a new sport coat for many years that was wrapped and hanging in the closet. We thought a lot of Jack, even naming our second son, Alexander Jack after him. He often showed his kindness and caring to each member of our family. I’m glad he was in our lives.

On behalf of the Badger Honor Flight Board and all our volunteers, we extend our deepest condolences to you all, the family of Jack Melby. We are forever grateful for Jack's service to our great country. What an honor it was for us to take him on his well-deserved trip of a lifetime. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
