Obituary

MADISON - Nancy Jane Thompson, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Paul and Helen (Tenant) Perlberg. Nancy grew up in Hales Corners and graduated from West Milwaukee High School in 1959. She later attended UW- Madison.

After college Nancy met her husband, Wayne Thompson, while working the reception desk at Walter Maddox where he worked as an accountant. They married on May 3, 1969, and bought their home on Lake Monona where they raised their three daughters, all the time keeping a full schedule of bridge, bowling and of golf until his sudden passing in 1987. For the next 37 years she carried on his legacy of life, love and family on her own.

Nancy was fun, quick-witted and a great cook. She loved The Young and the Restless, Jeopardy! and Regis Philbin during the week and boating with family and friends on the weekends. More than fair-weather fans, she and Wayne were proud Badgers football and hockey season ticket holders. All three daughters would go on to graduate from UW-Madison.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Kristin (John) Provenzano, Kim (Bryan) Menegoni and Kari Schiller; grandchildren, Derek, Kayley, Kaitlyn and Alex; sisters, Pat Greene, Marilyn (Dean) King and Barbara Loe; sister-in-law, Gayle Perlberg; other relatives and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeWayne; and brother, Paul "Sparky" Perlberg.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A private burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Even though long ago I can still hear her laugh at our Perlberg family gatherings! She loved that I always kept Kim and Kristin busy playing with them! May she now rest in peace!

I have so many memories of Nancy! We had great times with Nancy & Wayne. Badger football games were epic! We still make Nancy's lasagna for special occasions (Gina & Todd asked for her lasagna again this year). Fly high Nancy!! I feel she is smiling down on us all! Until we meet again...
