Obituary
LAC DU FLAMBEAU- Jane Christine Bruvold, age 69, of Lac du Flambeau, Wis., passed away on October 20, 2024. Born on April 1, 1955, Jane grew up on a dairy farm in Valders, Wis., where her determination and strong will were shaped early on-traits that she carried with pride throughout her life. She married Harlan Bruvold on August 16, 1980, and together they built a life full of love, raising their children and creating countless cherished memories.
Jane loved to travel, with a cruise to Alaska with Harlan being one of her favorite adventures. Beyond her travels, she found great joy in spending time with her children, granddaughters, family, and friends-whether it was at the lake or simply gathered together. Her wit, passion, and independence touched everyone she encountered.
Jane was also proud of her career with the Wisconsin Healthcare Engineering Association (WHEA), where she worked for 20 years as an administrative assistant, coordinating the organization with dedication and care.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; parents, Harold and Betty Reinertson; and sister-in-law, Kari Reinertson. She is survived by her children, Ryan (Jill) Bruvold and Brianna (Andy) Makinster; granddaughters, Ivy and Liv Makinster; siblings, Tom (Cindy) Reinertson, Mark (Sheryl) Reinertson, Peter (Lisa) Reinertson, Alan (Ellen) Reinertson and Mary (John) Brantley; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Her vibrant character and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Those who knew Jane knew she never liked being in the spotlight. In lieu of a formal service and keeping with her wishes, her family invites you to take a quiet moment to think of your favorite memory of Jane, listen to one of her favorite songs, “Nights in White Satin,” by The Moody Blues, and raise a glass in her honor. They hope you’ll celebrate her life in a way she would have appreciated.
For those who feel inclined, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society to help fund research and find a cure for this disease.
"Breathe deep the gathering gloom, Watch lights fade from every room. Bedsitter people look back and lament, Another day’s useless energy spent. Impassioned lovers wrestle as one, Lonely man cries for love and has none. New mother picks up and suckles her son, Senior citizens wish they were young. Cold-hearted orb that rules the night, Removes the colors from our sight. Red is gray and yellow white, But we decide which is right. And which is an illusion?"
-Nights in White Satin - Late Lament, The Moody Blues
