Jerome worked at Failinger's General Store from 1950 until graduating from Waterloo High School in 1952. After graduation, he worked at UW Hospital and then joined the U.S. Army, serving until 1959. Jerome met his wife, Marion Erb, while working for Manchester's Department store. They married in 1966, in Mount Vernon. Jerome worked for the State of Wisconsin from 1966 until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, he volunteered at the St. Stephen’s Food Pantry for 17 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Marion; brother, Eugene Schey; sister, Catherine Weber; and nephews, Kent Schey and Eric Weber.
