After Dixie graduated H. S. She came to Madison and worked at a big drugstore (maybe Woolworth) on the square. They had a large lunch counter and small pet area. One day the birds got away from Dixie and flew all over the store. They went to the bathroom all over the place. Back in the 60’s Madison was home to the Beatnicks. One night Dixie and I went into a bar/restaurant for cokes. There was a guy reading a book backwards and upside down. We laughed out loud when we left. Dixie and Duane got married after Duane finished college. They moved away for Duane’s work. I went into service and went over seas for 2-3 years and we lost touch. We made contact l Ayer thru our aunt Maxine after husband Myron passed away. After that, we used to call each other. And, Dixie and Darcy visited us in Florida. May God rest Dixie’s soul. Bruce Rundle I often drive past the home where Dixie lived while growing up in Mineral Point. I have resided in or near Dodgeville all my life and often travel to M-P. Our two families visited frequently and celebrated some birthdays and holidays together. I recall Dixie's mother had extreme talent working with driftwood and floral arrangements. Dixie's father, Jim and my father, Stan, were both hard workers and also shared an intense love of horses. I remember Jim and Marion, Dixie's parents, recounting story after story, of Dixie's childhood, and the memories they would cherish in the years to come. Very special memories, especially after Dixie would eventually leave home and begin her own adult life. I did not see Dixie often but know she and I had fond thoughts of our childhood. Whenever we did get to see one another, we would "update" as cousins will do. I believe the last time we saw each other, it was very obvious Dixie had developed the same love, respect, and pride in her own children, as her parents had developed for her. I know your children will miss you, Dixie. Me too. Condolences and sympathy to Dixie's family from this family of Rundle cousins. Bruce Rundle(Nikki), Brent (Zilda), Lindsey(Patrick)
