Carolyn Anderson

I have thought of Miss. Anderson many times over the years. I fondly remember all of the great times I had in her 5th grade class. May she rest in peace. Lana(Pertzborn)Kinning

Carolyn was my 6th grade teacher at Mendota Elementary School (1957-1958). I had great teachers there, but Miss Anderson always stood out because she made that year so special. It was a great year anyway because the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series in October, but we had so many memorable experiences. For me the two that stood out are the Science Fair and our presentation of Space Saucer X-2000, an operetta written by Madison teachers. The Science Fair and the celebration of the International Geophysical Year that she embraced throughout the year set me on my path to become a professor of electrical engineering. We presented Space Saucer X-2000 to the usual school audience, but what made it super special was that we also did a show at Mendota Mental Health Institute, which taught us to embrace and enjoy all communities. Everyone in the cast remembers the experience fondly. I was lucky enough to reconnect with Carolyn in recent years and thanked her for what she did for me. She was truly a special person - a wonderful teacher.

I was fortunate to have Miss Anderson as a teacher at Mendota Elementary School.
