Obituary
MADISON - Carolyn Bertha Anderson, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. She was born on May 27, 1931, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Stanley and Bertha (Schwarz) Anderson and sister, Letty.
Carolyn graduated from La Crosse Central High School, UW-La Crosse, and UW Wisconsin Madison. She worked as a teacher for Madison Area School District, primarily at Lindbergh Elementary retiring in 2000 after 49 years.
She was involved with libraries, museums, teachers, nature centers, art fairs, scholarship, food drives, and community services organizations.
Carolyn enjoyed connecting with others, creating art, dining out, church, gardening, and being with children.
Carolyn’s family consisted of Troy Wethe and his partner, Jennifer and children, Tristan and Alexis; life-long friend, Janet Canty; and generations of friends, children and dachshunds that she loved and cherished. She touched many people’s lives, gardened, worked art fairs, and donated generously to the community.
A funeral service will be held at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Carolyn loved butterflies, flowers and bright colors, so feel free to wear bright colors in her honor.
