Obituary
MIDDLETON - Nicholas A. “Nick” Garcia was born on Oct. 10, 1953, in Racine, Wis. He married Jeaneen (Brennan) Garcia on Sept. 29, 1979.
Nick was a proud member of I.B.E.W. No. 159. He was an electrician on the U.W. campus for 37 years. Nick always said the day he started his apprenticeship was the day he won the lottery.
Known for his chicken enchiladas and beef stroganoff, not to mention his Mexican rice, Nick loved to cook. A perfect day for Nick was to sit in his Lazyboy, with cheese and crackers, and watch Big 10 football. His most prized possessions were as follows: his air compressor, Swiss Army pocketknives, Brewers hat, zero turn lawn mower and a new Lazyboy every few years. To say the least, Nick was a reluctant traveler. At the urging of his wife, he traveled throughout the southwest and made a point to visit most of the Big 10 stadiums. But he was happiest when he was headed for home.
Above all else, Nick was a family man. He needed nothing more than to spend time at home with his kids. Most recently, one of the great joys of his life was spending time with his grandson, Brennan.
Nick passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 23, 2023, surrounded by family. He will be missed. Nick is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Tanner, Andy (Brittany) and Nick; grandchildren, Brennan and baby sister due in June; brother, Steve (Linda); and sister, Jeanne (Jack). Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Aul; and brother, John.
The family would like to thank Dr. Huebner, Dr. Abel, Dr. Bassetti, Dr. Kyriakopoulos, and Riley and Lindsay of Agrace HospiceCare. The family requests memorials be made to Agrace HospiceCare.
Nick was never a fan of hoopla or fanfare. Therefore, there will be no service. Nick’s family and friends will honor him by carrying him in their hearts for the rest of their days. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
