Eric Jandro

Eric was the nuts and bolts of our radio station, 98.7FM WVMO - The Voice of Monona. The work he performed was the backbone of our sound and he had a profound impact on the accolades WVMO had received over the years. His technical skills and meticulous attention to detail was unmatched. I enjoyed all the talents he brought to the station; he was an exemplary co-worker. I will miss working with him, but most of all I will miss our friendship. - Will Nimmow

I need to tell everyone what an amazing person my son was. Even though I was his primary caregiver, it is only in his death that I am realizing the grit and determination that was required of him to make it through each & every day. Eric had suffered a major stroke when he was 32. A rare blood disorder was diagnosed as the cause-his blood wanted to clot all of the time. His recovery was long and complicated, involving multiple therapies & countless doctor visits. He was left with aphasia, a condition which affected his ability to speak and comprehend language. A year after his stroke he suffered a seizure that fractured his spine. He spent 3 months in a turtle shell brace, and required more physical therapy, more doctor visits. Eric had an incredible work ethic, and one of the greatest disappointments of his health conditions was how they affected his ability to work. For 2 years he faithfully persisted in working with the department of vocational rehabilitation to obtain work. Ultimately he was offered a position at WVMO radio station as an audio editor, working 2-3 hours per day. This job gave him a reason to get up every morning. As a family, we are so appreciative to the city of Monona for providing him this opportunity. Thank you Will! The last 6 months of Eric's life were probably his best. He was living on beautiful Lake Monona, enjoying the sunsets and taking videos of the wildlife there. He was dealing with his health challenges in a responsible manner. He loved spending time with his family and keeping in touch with out of town relatives by text or phone. After his passing, one of Eric's grandmothers told me of a recent phone conversation where Eric had said "Grandma-I feel really good right now and I'm really happy". Eric left this earth knowing how much he was loved and treasured, and we know how much he loved us. He was so appreciative of anything anybody did for him. How he lived his life in the face of adversity is an inspiration to us all. Lights will guide you home dear son. It's been such a gift and a privilege to be your mother. Love you forever-Mom

As Eric’s uncle (his mother’s side) I have watched Eric grow from a young boy to a really great man. I have been impressed at how well he overcame and responded to his health challenges of the recent past. As a physician I have seen a lot of people who do not respond well to such challenges - but Eric did. I ALWAYS enjoyed being with him. I appreciated his sincerity, thoughtfulness, smile and his great sense of humor. I have learned so much from Eric. He will never be forgotten. Mike Augustson

My brother lived a simple life with grace. He was generous, thoughtful, humble and sincere. He was empathetic to the struggles of others, despite his own. Eric was always there to listen. We shared many laughs and some tears. Eric's tenacity to navigate his forever changed world after his stroke was amazing. He was a true inspiration to me on how to live life on life's terms. Eric taught me to slow down and enjoy all of the God given beauty that nature has to offer. One time he shared a YouTube video of sharks swimming at Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was set to his favorite music, Jazz. This was near and dear to his heart because as children we had visited the aquarium. In his text to me he said, "What a world we live in". People like Eric made this world a better place. I wish I had more time with you Eric. I want you to make me laugh just one more time with your sharp humor. I will be forever grateful that I had the honor and pleasure of being your big sister for 39 years. Rest in peace my sweet brother. Your forever loving sister, Sara

Eric was a welcoming friend to me. We shared personal stories and feelings later in his life. He had the sense that his health would shorten his life, but never complained about anything. He was always positive and energetic, and honestly shared his feelings and opinions. He was very appreciative of any personal favors and caring attention. I do miss his response when I would call him on the phone, which was "Hey DAN!" Thank you, dear Eric! for the gift of your friendship.
