Obituary
Michelle Marie George passed away at home on Thursday, September 29, 2022. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 26, 1968, the daughter of Jean Howe and Kenneth Mecum. She married John George on May 18, 1994, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2016.
Michelle became a mother at a very young age and managed to obtain her high school GED. She spent her early years being a stay-at-home mother. Later in life, she entered the work force and worked several jobs before her final job as the Human Resource Manager for Brothers Main. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, huge caring heart, and her strong will to try and maintain order in anything that she did.
Michelle was a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan, no small fete in “Packerland,” but she could handle the heat! She loved spending her spare time with her two grandchildren and Anysia Edwards.
She is survived by her children, Dustin Hughes, Briana Hughes and Austin George; her two grandchildren, Sophia and Jesse, who were the light of her life; her mother and step-father, Jean and Larry Gladem; her step-mother, Karen Mecum; her sister, Lindy (Jeff McMahon) Rake; her brother, Jeffrey (Erika) Mecum; her step-sisters, Tanya Collins, Rebecca Gladem, Melissa Pederson and Krista Fenolio; her special friend and companion, Frank Edwards, and his daughter, Anysia; as well as many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John George; and her father, Kenneth Mecum.
Per Michelle’s wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Doubleday’s in Cottage Grove.
