When I think of my Aunt Chris, the word that rises first is warmth. Not the fleeting kind, but something steady. The kind of warmth you could count on. It showed up in her smile, her voice, her quiet presence. Being around her made the world feel just a little softer.
She was a big part of my childhood, and not just in the background. She made me feel seen, safe, and loved. Whatever else was happening in life, things would somehow be okay. That was one of her gifts. Chris brought peace simply by being herself.
She also had a wonderfully creative spirit. Whether it was making greeting cards, crafting, or baking traditional Norwegian cookies for Christmas, Chris found joy in making things with care. Her art was never about showing off. It was about connection, and about adding something beautiful to people's lives.
Later in life, she found deep happiness with Lenny, and it was beautiful to witness. They shared a love rooted in kindness, mutual respect, and laughter. You could see how much they cherished each other.
Chris lived with grace through challenges that many people never saw. She met them with humor, generosity, and unwavering spirit. I will always carry with me the feeling of being loved by her, fully and unconditionally.
That is what I will remember. That is what stays.
