Obituary
MADISON - Richard Joseph “Rick” Moura, age 63, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021. He was born on Feb 2, 1958, in Madison, Wis., the son of Edward Gelardi and Arlene (Brown) Gelardi.
Rick served in the U.S. Navy for four years, then in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years. He traveled to Okinawa, Japan where he lived for nine years. He also traveled often to the Philippines. Rick worked in customer service and was employed at WPS for over 16 years. More recently he worked with MTM Inc. providing medical transportation.
In his free time, Rick volunteered as a scout leader for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He was a youth group leader, teaching confirmation classes at St. Dennis Catholic Church, where he was also a Eucharistic minister and usher. Rick was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a writer and a creative individual, who was passionate about his art. However, more than anything, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, as he absolutely adored all his children.
Richard is survived by his sons, Christian Moura and Richard E. Moura; adopted children, Ariel, Sherwin, Sam, Sheryl and Nicandria; grandchildren, Cheyjan, Anthony, Ayden, Shjailea, Alexis, Delahna, Lamarr, Elijah, Aaron, Christian, Jullian, Madison and Ariana; mother, Arlene; sisters, Mary Moura and Catherine (Scott Martin) Moura; brother, Edward (Amanda) Moura; ex-wife, Cristina Moura; first wife, Felicitas Moura; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Joseph Gelardi; daughter, Charrissa Moura; and two infant sons, Andrew Moura, Richard Moura Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021. Family and friends who wish to view the Mass via LIVESTREAM may visit Rick's obituary page at www.gundersonfh.com. at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
