It was my privilege to share some time with Charlotte during the years I lived at Skaalen Village. We I were regulars in the little knitting group, an intimate setting in which she told stories of the old days on the farm, a memory I treasure. Her kindness shone as brightly as her smile. Her insight into potentially difficult situations set an example from which we all could learn. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family she loved so dearly.

This wonderful lady was like a second mother to me. During my growing-up years (age 4-15) I lived across the street from her on East Dean Avenue in Madison, and her daughter Cheryl was my best friend. I spent many happy hours in Charlotte’s lovely home, which was always immaculate and smelled of delicious foods she was preparing in the kitchen. (The only one that didn’t smell so delicious to me was the lutefisk!) Charlotte always seemed like the perfect mother to me – she was so attentive to the needs of her family. I am grateful that I was able to spend some time visiting with her and Cheryl in 2019, just after Charlotte’s 99th birthday. She was still the same vibrant, kind and loving person I had always remembered her to be. We should all be so fortunate to live such a long, healthy and happy life as Charlotte did. I will miss her! I send big hugs and heartfelt condolences to Cheryl, Gayl, Ron and their families.
