Obituary

MADISON - Carole A. Kleinfeldt, age 76, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Oak Park Place. She was born on March 13, 1950, in Chisholm, Minn., the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Vitali) Chiodi.

Carole graduated from Chisholm High School in 1968 and earned a food science degree from St. Catherine's University, in St. Paul, MN, in 1972. She married Warren Kleinfeldt on August 18, 1973, in Chisholm, MN.

Carole was a loving wife, mother and Nona and her faith was the center of her life.  She was an active member of St. Dennis Catholic Church and the Red Hat Ladies, where she generously volunteered her time and talent over the years. She also treasured time spent with friends in card club and enjoyed traveling with loved ones.

Carole found joy in many interests and hobbies. She loved sewing, attending theater productions, singing alto and reading mystery novels. Yellow was her favorite color, and she especially loved sunflowers and yellow daffodils, which reflected her bright and cheerful spirit.

Carole is survived by her husband, Warren; son, Patrick (Cori Ankenbrandt) Kleinfeldt; daughters, Katherine (Peter) Lemon and Angela (Tom) Hoffman; five grandchildren, Paisley Lemon, Pyper Lemon, Tom Hoffman Jr., Kolby Lemon and Jayce Kleinfeldt; brother, Frank (Patti) Chiodi Jr.; sister-in-law, Marianne (Wayne) Woock; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, with Fr. Mike Resop presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.

Carole was such a spunky lady when I first met her — and maybe even just a little suspicious of our family, haha! After all, we were “stealing” her beautiful daughter Angela away from her. Thankfully, it all turned out pretty wonderfully, as Angela became such a treasured part of our entire extended family. Over the years, we had opportunities to host Carole and Warren during Hoffman family visits back to town, and I was fortunate to celebrate some milestone anniversaries with them as well. One thing that always stood out was how Carole cherished time spent with family. Sending love to all of you during this difficult time. May you continue to carry a little of Carole’s spunk forward in her memory. Love, Tiffany and the Esser family

Carole was the secretary at Wisconsin Cheese and I worked in the front of her office in the Deli. She was the stable grounding person that kept us all in line. Taught us high school kids how to properly ship those crocks of cheese around the world....She and Warren were a big part of my 16-18 years on this planet. God Bless her family
