John and Sally lived around the corner from us, and were like an uncle and aunt to our son, Ian. They always graciously included Ian, from very young on, to their get-togethers to the point when Ian could legally drink John's sometimes "poisonous" cocktails. John was very skilled at solving problems and repairing, installing, etc. many things in our home,--including "untangling" our computer from the work of a young boy and our newly-installed internet. My husband, John, had deep respect for John Bauer as a kind human and his sharp mind. "John is so d@#$ smart, but he doesn't flaunt his intellect." he would often comment. Both Johns died in the same room from the same causes about a year apart. I'm sure they are sharing their dry sense of humor in heaven right now.

My deepest condolences to Katie and to all of John's family and friends. John's death is an unexpected and unwelcome shock. I've known John only for a short time, and did not become well acquainted until this year. Now, I wish I'd had the opportunity to know him better. We at the office will certainly miss his energy and his spirit as well as his knowledge, and, given the opportunity, I know I would have bent his ear on a woodworking project or two. In John I always felt I could count on an honest opinion, and if needed, a helping hand. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest condolences. John was a great person, I enjoyed working with him and I know he touched the lives of many here at WPS. I did not know him outside of work but I always welcomed a laugh with him on our calls. Katie, there are no words. He will be missed.
