Alice was a fund of knowledge about the history of Bethel Lutheran Church and the many, many stories associated with the church, Madison, cultural traditions, and life in Madison, Wisconsin. She was a precious friend and a resource for me when Bethel celebrated 150 years and again when the Steensland House was enjoying a "rebirth," as a group at of us at Bethel searched through the files and were rewarded with so much information. Most people have no idea how organized the Bethel Archives are and how rich the collection is with newspaper clippings, old church records, and momentous descriptions of the activities of a faithful community. I spent many hours talking with her and hearing about the church and her family and life in Madison on many Tuesdays when the Library Board met. Bethel was blessed with these women who have preserved a life long history of Bethel. Thank you, Alice. You are a gem! Lynne Krainer

Dear Michael, David and family, So sorry to hear of Alice's passing. I know my mother and father were honored to have Alice and Manford stand up for them at their wedding. They treasured their lifelong friendship with Alice and Manford. I have fond memories of visits to their house on Williamson Street, and later to their new house. Alice's kind, calm demeanor certainly contributed to her long life. May the good memories help to give you strength and comfort. Sincerely, Bob Tiedeman
