James Patrick Swinehart

OREGON-James “Jim” Swinehart, age 66, of Oregon, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, Jan. 18, 2019. Jim was born on Feb. 7, 1952, the son of Patrick and Zona (Jones) Swinehart. He married Joan (Ace) Meyer on May 22, 1987, in Madison. Jim graduated from Oregon High School, attended Tech School in Rhinelander, and continued his education at the University of Upper Iowa. He then worked at WISCO Industries for several years. Jim and his father started Metalcraft Industries together and was President and CEO at the time of his death. Jim enjoyed many happy times at his cottage in Central Wisconsin on Lake Camelot, relaxing, boating, and making memories with Joan and their family. He also greatly enjoyed the many family vacations they spent in Eagle River. He had a faithful companion for 13 years, his beloved dog Star, who gave him much love and received much love during her lifetime. Jim loved to learn, study, and give people the information they needed to make decisions. He was always available to help when needed and did so without ever looking for recognition. Jim was a man of great faith and lived his life believing God would always guide him and lead him home when the time came. Jim will be dearly missed by his wife of 32 years, Joan; his children, Marguerite (Pauly) Lyskawa, Deirdre Swinehart, and Nicholas Swinehart; step-children, Brenda Maier, Brian (Tracy) Meyer, Matt Meyer, Scott (Cindy) Meyer, and Andy (Tara) Meyer; his grandchildren, Cambrya, Catalina, Abigail, MaKynzie, Anthony, Vince, Memo, Johnathan, and Samuel. He is further survived by his brother, Jeff (Charity) Swinehart; his sisters, Linda (Ray) Ramsden, Pam (Harold) Alspaugh, Penny (David) Johnson, and Patti Ace; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by the mother of his children, Marilyn Nick. Preceding him in death are his parents, Ross and Zona; his brother Jack; and two grandsons, Jovanni and Danny. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St, Oregon, at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019 with the Rev. Jeff King presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Jim will be laid to rest at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon at a later date.
