WAUNAKEE - Kathleen Jane “Katie” Gordon, age 95, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, with family at her side. She was born on April 2, 1930, on the family farm in Barneveld, Wis., to Thomas and Alma (Christenson) Mickelson. She graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1948. Katie married Donald Gordon on October 22, 1948, and they celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary in 2024. They raised their four children in DeForest. After all the kids were in school, Katie started her 28-year career working in the school offices in DeForest and Oregon.
Katie and Don spend many years square and round dancing throughout the Midwest. They loved playing Euchre and Hand and Foot with family and friends. They took many vacations throughout the United States, cruised the Caribbean, England, Scottland and Scandinavia with their favorite vacation being in Hawaii.
As a proud Norwegian, Katie enjoyed the tradition of lefse and krumkake making with family. Katie loved teaching grandkids and great-grandkids the Norwegian version of the three little pigs, (tiatill, tiato, tiarose, mogelfru, store gubben heston).
Kathleen was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma and is survived by her children, Pam St. Amour, Karen (Walt) Bublitz, David (Lucy) Gordon, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Gordon; grandchildren, Mary (Paul) Elsing, Nicole (Brad) Cash, Jeffrey St. Amour, Derek (Meghan Percifield) Gordon, and step-grandsons, Matt St. Amour and Nick (Nuria) Clark; great-grandkids, Jackson (Kyia Ramsden) Elsing, Dylan (Leah Riddle) Elsing, Olivia and Carter Cash, and Sophia and Nicky Clark; brother-in-law, Donald Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; stepdad, Charles Junius; son, Larry Gordon; grandkids, Patrick and Anna St. Amour; and her siblings and their spouses, Lillian (Olin) Bystol, Bernice (Alvin) Thompson, Marcella (Ralph) Peterson, Violet (Walter) Kahl, Darlene (Jack) Strassman, Jeanette (John) Richard and Genevieve Miller.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, with Pastor Jim Ranney presiding. Burial will be held at West Blue Mounds Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association or Agrace HospiceCare.
The family would like to thank the Waunakee Valley Senior Living staff and Agrace HospiceCare staff for their loving and wonderful care of Katie, especially her team, Rachel, Kelly, Derek and Millie.
