To Pat and all her siblings I wish to extend my sincere sympathies. Losing a parent, even at an older age, leaves a huge hole in the fabric of time. Your memories of such an outstanding mom can and will help you through your mourning. After reading her obituary, I feel she was a fulfilled woman and led a life of love. Janet Hendon, Henderson, KY

Dear Kate, I am writing to you because I know you are in heaven smiling at us. You have the best sense of humor- I just finished writing for over 3o minutes and I don't see my comments, and I can see you laughing at me now. It is ironic, instead of feeling sad, I feel at peace about you- You are a great example of love and faithfulness. Everything came natural and effortless to you- I don't know if you realized how much you helped me feel at home when you took me in as a family member- When I was at Clarke, it was really hard for me because I was away from home and also, I was the only black person in the school the year I graduated, however, for you I was just another family member - You were tickled when people called Pat and me salt and pepper- You only cared that we were close friends. I was so touched that you always shared the little that you had, almost like Jesus did with the loaves of bread and fish. : There was always more than enough to go around- You always made sure that everyone was well taken care of, even above your needs- Many summers you had so many inner city kids stay with you- You gave your children great examples of unselfish love and all of them turned out great. Besides endless memories of your homemade good smelling and tasting food, Some of my favorite memories of you will be you making me two black clowns, a small one, and a big one in order that kindergarten students can have a positive image within their own likeness. Your beautiful smile will always be on my mind. You always laughed at me when I told you that you were hats so elegantly and you look like a movie star- Well, dear sweet Kate, it is your time to rest and be with your beautiful Anne and husband and all those you loved that went before you- And if I am so blessed, I will see you at the pearly gates of heaven. I love you and I will always have you in my heart. Your foster daughter, Myrlene
