Gerhardt J Steinke

I worked with Gerhardt back in the seventies and eighties, to develop bicycle tours around Wisconsin. He was a fixture in the biking community, and dedicated to the promotion of two wheeled travel. Easy to talk to and usually upbeat, I have many a fond memory of him ! So long old friend !!

I was a student of Herr Steinke in the early '80's for Introduction of AC & DC Fundamentals. I was impressed with his tenacity of teaching methods. I met Gery as the spouse of my mother. They met at the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009. For my mother it was a great luck to meet Gery. Gery always made plans for traveling and they traveled a lot. He had a lot of energy and was always interested and helpful. We miss him.

My favorite memory of Gerhardt is when he told me that our son Karl had taken the best of my traits and the best of his traits and left the rest. I'm grateful that you spent the last decade of your life hiking in Europe, reading and listening to the German language and finding love and comfort in your relationship with Lotte. You found a home in your Fatherland at last.
