COTTAGE GROVE, MN - Mary Anne Greaney, age 91, of Cottage Grove, Minn., passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023. She was born on Dec. 1, 1931, in Coldwater, Ohio, the daughter of Sylvester and Lucy (Sommers) Wendel.
She married William J. “Bill” Greaney on Dec. 1, 1954, in Boston, Mass. Mary worked as a Vice President - Mortgage Loans for the State Bank of Cross Plains, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary was often referred to as Annie or Grandma Annie. She enjoyed playing Bridge, crocheting and sewing.
Mary is survived by her sons, Kevin Greaney, Michael (Sheila) Greaney and Robert Greaney; daughter, Betsy (Mark) Norman; and grandchildren, Mara Greaney, Candace Cieslinski, Kyle Greaney, Meghan Greaney, Kaitlin Greaney, Liam Greaney, Brody Norman, Christopher Norman and Teghan Norman; and great-grandchild, Arianna Cieslinski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Sylvester and Lucy; sisters, Jeannette Raudabaugh, Miriam Cartwright and Mildred Bomholt; and brothers, Joe Wendel and Jim Wendel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023, with Father Scott Jablonski presiding. Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
Memorials may be gifted in Mary’s name to Habitat for Humanity or the Alzheimer’s Association.
