Ardeth E Lindgren

MADISON / MARNE, MICH.-Ardeth Elaine (Bradley) Lindgren, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, after a brief illness. She peacefully entered the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ surrounded by her loving family. Ardeth was born on Sep. 25, 1925, in Marne, Mich., to Vern and Olga (Engman) Bradley. She was president of her senior class at Berlin High School, and a graduate of Olivet Nazarene College of Music. After college, she worked in the General Motors Building in Detroit as a receptionist. On Jan. 2, 1960, Ardeth was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Lindgren in Marne. They spent their early marriage years in Huntsville, Ala. In 1962, they moved to Madison, where Dick joined a medical practice at Madison Radiologists and Ardeth worked as a homemaker and mother of their four children. She enjoyed baking, jogging, and especially singing and playing the piano. Ardeth's beautiful soprano voice was a blessing to many when she sang in church choir and also as a soloist for special occasions. She particularly loved the soprano solos from Handel's "Messiah." Ardeth also sang many memorable sacred solos, such as "Because He Lives," "The King is Coming," and "The Palms." She loved to engage people in lively conversation, even complete strangers. Because her faith was so real to her, Ardeth would often share it with others and ask them about their spiritual walk too. She was a loving and compassionate person, taking an interest in other's needs and concerns. Ardeth's four children, Laura, Eric, Mark and Amy, were greatly blessed to have her support and love in their lives. She took great joy in spending time with each of her eight grandchildren and most recently, her first great grandchild, Hollis. All her life Ardeth adored her pets, including her Boston Terrier, Kipper. Ardeth is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dick Lindgren of Madison; daughter, Laura Gardner of Ames, Iowa; son, Eric (Dora) Lindgren of Grand Rapids, Mich.; son, Mark (Linda) Lindgren of Madison; daughter Amy (Erik) Gfesser of Lombard, Ill.; grandchildren, Grace (Ryan), Carson (Elle), Kayla, Jonathan, Lars, Mark, Rachel and Christopher Arden; great-grandson, Hollis; her brother, Floyd Bradley of Marne; sister, Esther (Don) Anderson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; brother-in-law, Theodore Lindgren of Atlanta, Ga.; brother- and sister-in-law, Jon and Elaine Lindgren of Des Moines, Iowa; many cousins, nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Roger (Dorothea) Bradley; sisters, Florence (Gerald) Anderson and Eleanore (Carl) Poelstra; father-and mother-in-law, Gilmore and Hazel Lindgren; brother-in-law, Carl Lindgren; sisters-in-law, H. Elisabeth Lindgren, Alice Lindgren and Mary Bradley; son-in-law, Tom Gardner; and granddaughter Britta. A Memorial Service will be held at ARBOR COVENANT CHURCH, 2509 McDivitt Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017, with Pastors Peter Morris and Rodney Johnson presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:45 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. A graveside service will be held at LOST GROVE CEMETERY near Gowrie, Iowa, with Pastor Allan Redenius of First Covenant Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa presiding.
