Obituary
OREGON - Joseph Anthony Vondra, age 84, of Oregon, Wis., went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2024, at home.
Joseph was born July 1, 1939, in Cuba City, Wis., the son of Bernard “Ben” and Hilda (Reuter) Vondra. On July 8, 1967, he married Rita Roth at the Nativity Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Jospeh worked at Vondra Engraving for many years and ETC (Electric Theater Control) and was a Master Engraver. He also enjoyed working at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
He was a member of the VFW Post 10272 of Oregon, Wis. Joseph enjoyed fishing in Chetek, Wis., with his wife, son, brothers, and nephews. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, puzzles, telling jokes, and spending time with his granddaughter, Makayla.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Rita (Roth) Vondra; son, Jeffrey (Brenda) Vondra; granddaughter, Makayla Vondra; and sisters-in-law, Norma Vondra, Phyllis Berns, LaVonne Paustin and Donna Olson.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; twin grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Vondra; sisters, Burnetta Nies, Darlene Loeffeholz and Rita Taylor; brothers Donald, Kenneth, Eldon, and infant brothers, David and Bernard; and sister-in-law, Karen Steinlage.
A short service with Military Honors will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cuba City, Wis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Joseph’s name to Oregon Senior Center.
