COTTAGE GROVE - Joan F. (King) Jenson passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1932, in Brooklyn, Wis., to Arthur W. and Beth M. (Boyle) King.
Joan graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1949 and later graduated with a two-year degree from Madison Business College. She was united in marriage to Roger A. Jenson of Primrose, Wis. on September 20, 1952. Together they were blessed with five children.
For over 40 years, Joan worked for Kessenich’s Restaurant Supplies, where she went on to become the Credit Manager, and later moved to the sales department, winning many sales awards. Eventually she began designing and drawing blueprints by hand of commercial kitchens without any formal training. Joan broke several glass ceilings, especially being a businesswoman in the 1960s, 1970s and beyond. Joan was also very involved with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp and State Street Review Color Guard.
Joan is survived by her four children, Marian J. (Rex C.) Link of Cottage Grove, Alan D. Jenson of Monona, Jeri Ann Jenson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Frances J. (Darren Soderholm) Jenson of Cottage Grove; five grandchildren, Tom, Erik, Kate (Preston), Dylan and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Rory and Mayciekay. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Beth King; brother, Lonn King; former husband, Roger Jenson; and daughter, Kay Jenson.
Pursuant to Joan’s request, there will be no visitation or services; a private burial will be held. She wanted to be remembered for who she was and what she did for people.
