Obituary
MADISON - Richard John Reinhold, age 77, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Jan. 1, 1945, in Madison, Wis, the son of Roger Reinhold and Helen (Starry) Reinhold.
Richard graduated from Monona Grove High School and then went straight into the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served from 1965 to 1969. Richard became a USPS Mail Carrier in Madison then transferred over to Waunakee, Wis., on May 17, 1974. He became a USPS truck mechanic and later a letter sorting machine repair technician in Madison, until his retirement at age 55. Richard also became a real estate broker on Dec. 31, 1982.
Richard was a member of St. Mary of the Lake, Westport, and was parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monona. He also was a member of the Waunakee American Legion Post 360. Richard enjoyed working on classic cars, especially ‘64 and a half and ‘67 mustangs. He loved to travel and had been all over the world.
Richard especially loved the breakfast group of friends and family at the Cottage Cafe in Cottage Grove and at the Chicken King in Florida. He was an avid dissectologist and sudoku solver. Richard was always challenging his family to a game of Skip-Bo. Spending time with family for Sunday dinners was most important to him. He always loved hearing about the grandkids and grand pups. A caring person to his family and neighbors, Richard went out of his way to lend a helping hand.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Nicole Therese (David) Schroud; son, Nathan Joseph Reinhold; sister, Rebecca Reinhold; significant other, Marcia Griesbaum; grandchildren, Jacob, Mea, and Ava; nephew, Paul Schlumberger; and niece, Sarah Schlumberger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Reinhold; and his brother-in-law, John Schlumberger.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
