I am sorry for your loss. I am also sad that I did not know Hub and "Toddy" better. I had the good fortune of knowing Hub as one of his tenants. I recall how he took pride in his own work, his family, and community. Hub left a lasting impression with me when I observed him helping two young tenants follow through on their responsibility to leave an area in good order. Rather than criticize their oversight, he demonstrated how their work could be done well; then left them to complete the work. I will always remember him for that gesture of kindness and commitment and expect that he gave the same commitment to his family, community, and country throughout his life..

I am so sorry to find out that Hub is gone. He was my landlord when I lived on E. Dayton St back in 1975! I adored him. He was always helping me out as a young single mom tenant. I wish I had known he had passed away, I would have come to say goodbye and pay my last respects. Bye Hub!
