Obituary
MADISON – Hub Pinkerton, age 97, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Heritage Monona. He was born on Feb. 15, 1920, the son of Milo and Ruth (Bramhall) Pinkerton. Hub graduated from Central High School in 1938 and then received a law degree from the UW Madison. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre. Hub married Delores “Todd” Schoblaska on May 5, 1951, and they enjoyed 64 wonderful years together. Hub practiced law for a short time while managing a number of apartments in the Madison Area. He volunteered for many non-profit organizations. Hub was very active at First Congregational United Church of Christ, where he was a Deacon and Treasurer. Hub and Delores were life members of the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) and attended many conferences in Wisconsin and Virginia Beach. Hub is survived by his son, Milo (Virgil Taus); daughter, Brenda “Sue” Stuber; grandson, Mike Harbaugh; two great-grandsons, Damion and Connor; nephews, Bill (Ellen) Steinhaus and Craig (Michelle) LeMieux; nieces, Kathy, Carolyn, Barbara and Elizabeth (Bill) Steinhaus; and sister-in-law, Kika Schoblaska. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores on Feb. 1, 2016; and two sisters, Mila Jean Steinhaus (John) and Phyllis Pratt. A Celebration of Life will be held at HERITAGE MONONA, 111 Owen Road, Monona, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, August 12, 2017, with the Rev. Eldonna Hazen presiding. Luncheon and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, 1609 University Ave., Madison, in memory of Hub. I am sorry for your loss. I am also sad that I did not know Hub and "Toddy" better. I had the good fortune of knowing Hub as one of his tenants. I recall how he took pride in his own work, his family, and community. Hub left a lasting impression with me when I observed him helping two young tenants follow through on their responsibility to leave an area in good order. Rather than criticize their oversight, he demonstrated how their work could be done well; then left them to complete the work. I will always remember him for that gesture of kindness and commitment and expect that he gave the same commitment to his family, community, and country throughout his life..

I am so sorry to find out that Hub is gone. He was my landlord when I lived on E. Dayton St back in 1975! I adored him. He was always helping me out as a young single mom tenant. I wish I had known he had passed away, I would have come to say goodbye and pay my last respects. Bye Hub!
