Obituary

MCFARLAND - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Charlie Haeffner on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Born August 15, 1947, his life was spent mentoring many in the grocery business and then in the industrial maintenance area.


He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Susan; his two loving sons, Dan and Corey; his sister, Deb; cat, Tucker; and grand-puppies, Lego and Tinzee. He is also survived by many in-laws and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and many furry animals that he loved dearly.


Charlie was honest, caring, funny, giving and intelligent beyond belief. His family was everything to him and we loved him fiercely.


Per his request there will be no public services.


Rest in Peace my BaHoney...well deserved.

Charlie and I spent a lot of time together over the years. I remember the times in his basement making picture frames, he loved wood working as much as landscaping or giving me a hard way to go. There wasn't much he couldn't do, except forgive himself for past mistakes. He was one of only a few I considered a best friend! Rest well old buddy!

Chas as he liked to be called was my first manager at the new Gary’s United Foods in McFarland. We worked hard and also had plenty of adult beverages together. Great Man and friend!!

I worked with at the Eagle store in Madison when we were both in school. Charlie was always a happy-go-lucky guy and a great friend and mentor. I always enjoyed working the over-night shift with him!
