MADISON - Michael Thomas Dowell, age 67, of Madison, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. He was born on November 15, 1957, in Madison, the son of Thomas and Dorothy (Hefty) Dowell.
Michael graduated from La Follette High School in 1976. He worked as a correction officer for Mendota Health Institute, retiring on November 27, 2010. Michael loved the Packers and watching all sports. He enjoyed traveling around the United States and visiting National Parks. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces.
Michael will be missed by his sister, Margaret Hawley; nieces, Marisa Hawley and Tasha Hawley; great-niece, Skyla King; special friend, Michelle; feline companion, Jimmy; and many cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, with Pastor Lauren Wrightsman presiding. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Please wear your favorite Packers gear in honor of Michael.
