Obituary

MADISON - Nanciann Lazarz, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Oct. 9, 1938, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Franklin and Mildred (Pulvermacher) Adler.

Nan was a "Go-getter." From the moment she could walk, she made every moment count and didn't waste a minute of her life. She was a loving and perfect partner to her husband, Bob, whom she was married to for 62 years. Nan loved her family, adored her grandkids, and made many friendships throughout her lifetime. She had a smile that lit up a room and loved to be around people. Her Catholic faith was paramount to her, and she enjoyed serving the church for many years.

Nan loved travel and adventures. She and Bob traveled all over the United States and to many countries. She enjoyed many hobbies and was always interested in learning new things. Nan was always willing to help people when they needed it and volunteered in many facets over the years.

Nanciann is survived by husband, Robert; son, Todd (Tameka) Lazarz; daughters, Jennifer (James) Petersen, Joni (Michael) Oliphant and Juli (Darrell) Moen; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Travis (Taylor) Adler and Doug (Susi Yelczyn-Mickelson) Adler; along with other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, with Father Brian Wilk presiding.  Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.

Nan loved colors. Please feel free to honor her with colorful attire.

Nan was a long time friend from our high school days at Middleton HS. We both were cheerleaders for HS sports, and after many busy years of raising families and living far apart, we reconnected in more recent years, meeting with others for monthly lunches and catching up on news of one smother. We will miss her presence in our group but will hold her in our hearts. Janet Grosse

I really liked my mother-in-law and I'm glad I knew her for the last 44 years. I met Nan when I was 16 and picked up her oldest daughter for a first date at her home on Starker Avenue in Madison, WI. Six years later I married that same daughter and Nan was a grandma to our five children. I have gradually missed her gregarious presence over the past six years due to Alzheimer's that slowly took her from us. May she rest in peace. The poem by Atticus (see pictures) was above her bed in memory care. I had a new appreciation for the words as I sometimes glimpsed the pixie that Alzheimer's could not extinguish.

To The Captain, Todd, my good sports pal, Jenny, Joni, and Juli: I have such fond memories of Nan. She was a great cook at St Dennis and no one stepped out of line on the playground when she was supervising! Her smile is what I remember most when we had our spaghetti dinners at your house before basketball games long before team dinners became popular. She did light up every room with her big smile and friendly demeanor. Hugs to all of you. Terri (Ewelt) Martinson
