Florence A. Krofta

MADISON-Florence Arlene Krofta (Becker), age 91 of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at All Saints Assisted Living. She was born on January 17, 1926, in Madison, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Midthun) Becker. She married Rudolph (Rudy) Krofta on May 10, 1947 in Madison. Floss lived her entire life in the Middleton and Madison areas. She just celebrated her 91st birthday and was married to Rudy for 69 years. They met at a dance and continued to enjoy many years of going to Polka Festivals. She had many friendships over the years with people that she worked with; through her church St. Bernard's in Middleton; her Middleton neighborhood and also at All Saints Living who will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor. She shared many of her great recipes and was best known for her pie making. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and any type of craft. Floss graduated from West High School and started working at Badger Welding. For many years she held other part-time jobs while being a homemaker. She retired from the State of Wisconsin in 1986. She loved to travel – always by car. And enjoyed planning trips with her Grandson. Floss had a great sense of humor. She loved to joke around with everyone and was always concerned about how we all were doing. Even though she was limited in her mobility; and had her vision impacted; she still had the phone as her life line to reach out to everyone and wish them well. She was truly everyone's Mom. We are all grateful for the many years that we had with her. Florence is survived by her husband, Rudy; daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Fries; grandson, Matt (Lindsey) Pufall; sisters, Helen Kleven and Carol Schiller; brothers-in-law, David and Raymond Krofta; and sisters-in-law Joyce, Arlene and Audrey (Roy). She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Violet Lien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11:00 a.m. on Mon., February 6, 2017, with visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Floss' name be made to All Saints Neighbor Family Heritage Program, 2445 Darwin Rd., Suite 109, Madison, WI 53704.
