LODI-David D. Shipley, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society of Lodi. He was born on November 20, 1935 in Brown County, Indiana, the son of Mike and Amanda (Percifield) Shipley. He married Connie Mihelich on May 27, 1966. David worked for the Teamsters Local 695 in Madison. He was secretary/treasurer/President for over 20 years, retiring in 1996. David served his country in the U. S. Navy and Airforce for eight years. He is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Tyler (Brenda) Shipley and Tia Aroz; grandchildren, Kodie Shipley, Natasha Hankins, Gage and Raven Aroz; siblings, Phillip Shipley, Donna Dazey, Karen (Joe) Receveur and Joan Smith. David was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Per David's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Memorials may be made to Madison Veterans Administration or to Good Samaritan Society of Lodi. When I retired in 1994 from Consolidated Freightways, at age 53, The Teamsters retirement board, after approving all my papers to retire, changed their minds and said I had to wait until I was 60 before getting my first check. Dave sent them a letter telling them how wrong they were and I thought he would be fired for what he said in the letter. But shortly after sending the letter, I got my approval and shortly afterwards I received my first check. He sure did go to bat for me. Tom Mileski
