Norbert Henry Hellenbrand

CROSS PLAINS-Norbert "Nip" Hellenbrand, age 93, passed away on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016.  He was born on April 28, 1923, the son of John B. and Catherine (Buechner) Hellenbrand.  Nip married the love of his life, the former Florence Brechtl Stapleton on April 27, 1963 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cross Plains.  Nip worked as a carpenter his entire life. He was in business with his brothers for many years and built many of the houses in the Cross Plains area.  Nip served on the Cross Plains Fire Dept., the Cross Plains Village Board and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.  Nip loved baseball and played for many years in the home talent league.  He enjoyed watching the Brewers.  Nip was an avid card player who enjoyed spending time playing cards with his relatives and many great friends.  Nip is survived by his step-children, Joyce Ruhland and Tim (Kristie) Stapleton; his grandchildren, Sherri (Clem) Ring, Lynn (Glenn) Breunig, Mark Ruhland, Jodi (Karl) Lasse, Roby (Jess) Stapleton, and Ryan (Jill) Stapleton; great-grandchildren, Courtney (Aaron) Lovell, Cara (Shaun) Glynn, Nick, Nolan and Travis Breunig, Joseph Pickarts, Erin Lasse, Asher and Casen Stapleton and Preslee Stapleton; great-great-grandchild, Chevy Lovell; his sisters-in-law, Shirley and Rita Hellenbrand and many loving nieces and nephews whose visits he very much enjoyed.  Nip was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Florence; step-son, Roger Ruhland; six brothers, Louis, Herbert, Victor, Bernard, Carl and Robert and two sisters Rosetta Blankenheim and Sylvia Hellenbrand.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes Street, Cross Plains at 10 AM on Monday, September 19, 2016 with Father Thomas Kelley presiding.   Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9 AM until the time of the service.
