Obituary

MADISON-Kristen M. Brock, age 31, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at UW Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on March 14, 1985, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of William and Mary (Willan) Brock II. Kristen grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison East High School. She was employed by Great Lakes Higher Education. Her daughter Ashlynn was the love of her life. Kristen loved all animals, most especially her cats Moochie, Bear and Pefoo. Moochie and Bear were two cats she fell in love with in her work at the animal shelter in Reno, Nevada. They were both cats that were not adoptable due to illness but, she opened her heart to them and cared for them as no one else could. Her heart was broken when they crossed the rainbow bridge but she is with them once again. She also loved traveling, music and movies. Although a bit stubborn at times, she was a great listener and had a passion for helping people. The outpouring of love from places near and far shows the impact she had on people's lives. She definitely had her serious side but she also loved to make people laugh. Kristen is survived by her daughter, Ashlynn; parents, Mary of Madison, and Bill (Ranelle) Brock of Alma, Ark.; sisters, Michelle of Alma, Ark., and Jessica of Van Buren, Ark.; brother Josh (Katherine) Reed of Van Buren, Ark.; maternal grandparents, Lyle and Judy Willan; paternal grandparents, William E. Brock and Emma LaRocca; aunts and uncles Kathy and Louis Olson; Keith and Laura Rosenau; David and Susan Thomlinson; Neal and Barbara Block; Thomas and Julia Willan; Jim and Karen Clark; Carl and Terry Dvorak; Andrea and Bob Dlouhy. She is also survived by cousins Lucas Olson, Erin Olson, Sam Olson, Derek Rosenau, Elliott Rosenau, Keely (Lyndsey) Thomlinson, Jenna Thomlinson, Siobhan (Rich) Van Horn, Kaitlyn (David) Biermacher, Brandon Block, Michael Willan, Jeffry (Kelly) Willan, Alyssa (Jeremy) Dvorak, Max (Kalene) Dvorak, Matthew Dlouhy, and other relatives and friends. You will be missed deeply Kristen and always live on in our hearts. Our thanks to the Physicians, Nurses and staff at the UW Emergency Room and the TLC for the loving care and compassion that you showed to Kristen and our family. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg at 3 p.m., on Monday, July 18, 2016. Kristen was my first friend outside of my family. She was my first best friend, even after my family moved away. To this day I can't eat mac n cheese without lawrys. This was something she introduced to me as a kid! And every single time I ate it I thought of Kristen. Or the rose gardens we'd pinch on each other's arms at our sleep overs. And I always wished her a happy birthday, wherever she was, every March 14th. Even if it wasn't to her, her birthday was one I always, always remembered. We reconnected later as adults and when she moved back to Madison I was excited for the chance to get together in person. Unfortunately we never made that happen. I'm saddened by the news of her passing, deeply so. I will always regret not taking the time to get together in person. I hope nothing more than that may she be at peace. And I wish nothing but love, hope and peace for her daughter, her sisters, her parents, her family and the rest of her friends. You've touched many lives, Kristen. And you'll forever be in our hearts.

Kristen was a member of my composition course at East High during the Spring '03 semester. She was a good student and earned a high grade. I join her family and friends in sadness at losing her at such a young age. In peace, Barbara Leuthner

You were such a sweet and beautiful young girl. My best memories of you were riding around on a tube up at Red stone laughing at one of our cousins for losing his shorts in the lake. Cant wait to do that again someday with you. Kristen I will miss you. God Bless - Elliot Rosenau
