MADISON-Mary Lucas, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015. She was born on Dec. 29, 1943, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Franklin and LaVon (Larson) Lucas. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1962. Mary lived in her favorite city, Las Vegas, from 1978 until 1985. She became an Elvis Fan Club member and spent her free time working on Elvis memorabilia. Mary enjoyed listening to music and tried to keep Elvis' songs on in the car. Mary is survived by her first love, her son, Patrick Collin, who was born in Las Vegas, Nev.; her mother; and sister, Patricia Lucas. She was preceded in death by her father. Graveside Committal will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 705 Femrite Dr., Monona, at noon, on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Mary and I were good friends in high school. She taught me a love of horses and how to ride, and we spent many good times together with our horses and going to horse shows. I always remembered her birthday was December 29 and a couple years back I'd called to wish her happy birthday; I'd wanted to meet her for coffee but she hesitated, and now I very deeply regret that I hadn't pursued it further. My condolences to you, Mrs. Lucas (do you remember me?) and to you, Patty.
