Joyce Marie Anderson

Anderson, Joyce MADISON- Joyce Anderson passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born July 6, 1935, in Two Rivers, Wis., the daughter of LeRoy and Ethel (Vieau) LeMere. Joyce graduated from UW-Madison in 1957 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught for the Madison School district for 33 years and continued to tutor for a number of years after retiring. On Aug. 22, 1959, Joyce married the love of her life and best friend, Eugene "Pete" Anderson. Joyce and Pete loved to travel, visiting all 50 states, as well as a number of countries on six different continents. They especially enjoyed traveling in their RV with friends and family. Summer trips with their children and later grandchildren provided many wonderful and memorable times. Joyce and Pete both enjoyed singing and were members of several different community show choirs. Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it was going out on a Friday night or hosting a wonderful pool party. Joyce is survived by her husband Pete; daughter, Renee (Jeff) Boyd; son, Brad; grandchildren, Justin (friend Sandy Hughes) Boyd, Ryan (Heather) Boyd and Holly and Morgan Anderson; sisters-in-law, Kay Anderson and Doris Urkoski; brother-in-law, Ken Urkoski; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; mother and father-in-law, Gertrude and Hans Anderson; and brother-in-law, Lavern Anderson. Joyce will be very missed by all who knew her. A memorial gathering to celebrate Joyce's life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Lung Association.
