Fleming, Diane Bernadette Bresnan
MADISON-Diane Bernadette Bresnan Fleming, age 68, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was born on April 25, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George Bernard and Wilma Bresnan. Diane attended St. Juliana Grade School, Regina Dominican High School and St. Norbert College. Diane was privileged to teach elementary art for 34 years and was an accomplished glass artist. She was also a published author of the book Simply Wright, which she collaborated on with her son, Sean. Diane is survived by her sons, Sean Patrick Fleming of Barrington, Ill., and Conal James Fleming of Madison; granddaughters, Elsa, Audrey and Leighton; sister, Denise (Ken) Linde of McHenry, Ill.; and nieces, Katie and Krissy. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Thursday, April 9, 2015, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Burial will be at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery in Niles, Ill. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. “I wish to give gratitude to my sons, and to my many friends who made the last years of my life most beautiful. Diane left her mark on hundreds of students, peers and friends; and although I didn't meet her until her last year of life, she has left her mark on me as well. A part of her lives on in her sons, and will remain with all who knew her. God bless the warm and wonderful memories.

Diane was my elementary art teacher at Elvehjem Elementary in the late 60s/early 70s. I went on to become a graphic designer and later an art teacher myself. Diane was a big influence in my life both as an artist and a teacher and is one of the reasons I am still teaching art today. I had the fortunate experience recently of getting reconnected and also visiting her at Hospice with my dog. Thanks Diane for your guidance and the memories. You will be missed by many.
