CROSS PLAINS – Edwin “Eddie” John Rodenschmit, age 88, passed away on Wed. Sept. 24, 2014. He was born June 1, 1926 to Frank and Juliana (Schmelzer) Rodenschmit. He attended St. Francis grade school, Park School, Edgewood high school and UW Farm Short Course. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Henry, Puerto Rico. He enjoyed hunting deer and antelope out west, was always ready for a good game of solo or euchre, loved telling stories, was an avid Packer and Badger fan and enjoyed his pigs. His travels took him throughout the U.S., Chili, Costa Rica, Switzerland and Canada.
He leaves behind his sisters, Mary Ellen Raemisch, Anna May Krantz, Carol Spencer, Susan Geishirt and Alice Atteln; and his brother William (Jan) Rodenschmit. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Helen Rodenschmit; brothers-in-law, Elmer Geishirt, Charles Raemisch, Francis Spencer, Claire Atteln and Bertrand Krantz; and niece Barbara Geishirt Ethan.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Edwin. I have many fond memories of times on the Rodenschmit farm as a child. I felt fortunate to be able to spend time with hi m and Helen several years ago. He still had a twinkle in his eyes and a story to tell. Jean Schmelzer Schukei

Jan and Bill - I have memories of coming to the farm house with my Mom Donna to get eggs - you always said we could go into the basement down the narrow stairs to get the eggs - but I always thought it was too "spooky". So sorry for your loss - we are thinking of you and your family -

Dearest "Mr. Ed" and all of the family members, so sorry for your loss and wanted to let you know that helping with "Mr. Ed's" cares at Girlie's Manor was such a treat. Always seeing the bright twinkle in his eyes and the many memories he would share made it even more "special". Please take care and know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God continue to bless all of you. Diana Lynn Dampman

I was so sorry to hear about Eddie's passing. I still remember all of the 4th of July picnics on the farm....the hayride all around the farm, the tire swing, the 4 seater garden swing/glider and all of the good food, among many other memories. They are truly cherished memories. I wish I had pictures of those times
